Start A Club
There is a variety of active clubs on campus, but if none of these clubs spark your interest, you can always start your own. It's likely that there are many other students who share your interests.
STEPS TO START A NEW CLUB
(Note: This procedure must be repeated at the beginning of every semester.)
1. Get An Application
Download and print out the Start A New Club application (or pick it up from the ASU office in Campus Center 102).
2. Find A Sponsor
Your club must be sponsored by a faculty or staff member. Your sponsor must be present at all club meetings.
3. Define your club's constitution.
With the help of your sponsor, create your club's constitution. What are the rules? Criteria for membership, fees, purpose, election of officers, time and place of meetings, and club policies must all be spelled out in the constitution.
4. Assign Club Officers.
Assign the officers, i.e.: president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and 10 additional members who must put down their contact information and sign that they are willing to be of this club. All proposed members must have paid their ASU fee to be eligible.
5. Submit The Paperwork.
Turn in the completed forms to the ASU Vice President.
6. ICC Presentation / Approval
Once the Vice President approves the paperwork, you must present your club to the InterClub Council. The InterClub Council is a coalition comprised of all the active clubs on campus. A two-thirds vote in the ICC makes you eligible to become a recognized club on campus.
